DECLARED INTERNATIONALLY AS A BIOSPHERE RESERVE AND STARLIGHT RESERVE
Biosphere reserves are "areas of terrestrial or coastal/marine ecosystems, or a combination of these, recognised as such at international level within the framework of the UNESCO MAB Programme".
Starlight Reserve is a protected natural area in which the quality of the night sky and access to starlight must be protected. Fuerteventura is one of the 7 islands of the Canary archipelago; it emerges from the Atlantic Ocean as if it were a desert, surrounded by enormous dunes formed by the winds that bring sand from the Sahara, forming fantastic sandbanks. Known for its turquoise waters, its splendid white sandy beaches that contrast with its volcanic landscapes, among its many attractions are the Isla de Lobos, the Natural Park of Jandia, Betancuria, the mountain of Tindaya and the Windmills.
Located 97 km from the northwest coast of Africa. The island of Fuerteventura, with 13 protected natural areas, enhances its exoticism with palm and tarajal trees and the prized aloe vera. Its miles and miles of sandy beaches and golden dunes make life on the island a real privilege. Declared a Biosphere Reserve and Starlight Reserve for the whole island, it has an enormous protected area where you can discover true tranquillity.
